Mae Hong Song - Sunflowers, coffee and temples

It's not obvious in the picture but the hill slope is covered with acres of blooming sunflowers.  Apparently it only lasts from November to December.  Unlike Van Gogh's sunflower, these are smaller and more delicate.

Coffee stop - while waiting for my coffee, I decided to walk around the compound of this Karen family.  It's really peaceful here, time seems to have stood still in tranquility.  For a moment the passing hours on the clock became trivial in life.

Coffee stop at a road side Karen cafe.  At only 30 baht (Rm3-00) the coffee is as good as those served in any of the coffee chain in the city!

Although the coffee did not come decorated with a heart, milk was properly frothed and extra was given.

The Karen owner of the cafe.  After having coffee, we were welcomed to help ourselves with a type of local cherries from her trees.

Our first stop in Mae Hong Song was this temple on the hilltop where we also found roasted soya beans and sesame seed biscuits on sale.  Needless to say, we have to get some.

Overlooking Mae Hong Song from the hilltop temple - a little town centred around a lake.
