Pai - Chinese Village

The Chinese village is made up mainly of  Chinese from Yunnan Province who immigrated to Thailand several decades ago.  The young Chinese lady from the restaurant we spoke with told us she is already the third generation in her family.  Her great grand parents arrived in Myanmar before ended up in Thailand.  They went to Thai school during the day and attended Chinese lessons in the evening.  Their proficiency of Mandarin is no different from what one would encounter in Mainland China.  With the non-stop music playing from the gourd instrument that is so popular in Yunnan, one can't help but being taken back to old Lijiang.

Front of a restaurant.

Not quite sure the purpose of this piece of textile.  It did not look like something that was for sale.

Souvenir shop.

There is really not a lot to see or do in the village.  If not for the lunch break, we could easily finish the tour in less than half an hour.  However, lunch was good and inexpensive.

One of the many earthen structures in the village.
